Judy Zimmerman Walter is CEO and leading owner of Zimmerman’s Automotive Service, Inc. Zimmerman’s was started in 1958 by Judy’s father Norman Zimmerman. The company started as a gas station and garage in a farming community on the outskirts of Mechanicsburg, PA. The company has evolved over many years to the business it is today. Zimmerman’s today, offers used auto sales, service and maintenance and while you wait oil and fluid exchanges operating from a 20,000 sq. foot facility with 29 employees. Judy continues the family owned and operated business to the second generation and is in the process of training the third generation with her daughter Jacquie Walter Hower.
Judy likes to jokingly say she was born into the business. She actually started with the company in 1975. She took minimal ownership in 1984 and major ownership upon her father’s retirement in 1996. Being a female, in a male dominated industry, Judy has worked hard and helped to bring her dreams of making auto repair and buying less threatening for both genders. One of her largest accomplishments was to be named “Female Shop Owner of the Year” in the fall of 2016. Today she pushes forward making auto repair and buying easier by having a very well trained staff ready to talk with customers and meet their automotive needs.
