In 1980, my father opened Lawrence Chevrolet. In 2012, I took it over, becoming one of the few women car dealers in not only Pennsylvania, but also one of the few in the country.
Buying a vehicle can really be a stressful experience, especially for a woman making that purchase alone. It has been very rewarding to help create an environment in both sales and service where women feel as respected and knowledgeable as men when it comes to their vehicle. We also realize, in most cases, the woman of the household has typically done all the research for the family!
Regardless of male or female, our ultimate goal is to provide a level of service that a person can’t get anywhere else. We offer free car washes with every service, a customer loyalty program, loaner cars, pick up and delivery options for sales and service and free inspections for the life of a vehicle purchased here.
I feel a close connection to the community and a responsibility to “give back”, such as through our Lawrence Cares program. Each month we take a portion of every vehicle sale for the month and donate it to a local non-profit organization.
How has this community shaped who you are and the work you do?
We live in a community with so many wonderful organizations helping each other. It has fueled my desire to give back and donate to many organizations through our Lawrence Cares program.
What does leadership look like to you—especially as a woman?
Leadership to me is lead by example. I don’t ask anyone to do anything I wouldn’t do myself. (That includes helping to clear snow off 300 + vehicles!) I also feel respect is earned when respect is given.
What gives you hope about the future of our community or the world?
I’m hopeful more and more giving continues to take place in our community to help those in need. There is so much good in people!
