Culturas Tapas at El Serrano Restaurante, Lancaster
From the moment you step into El Serrano Restaurante in Lancaster, you immediately get a sense of being transported away from Pa. Dutch country to an eatery in Spain or South America. The brass accents, stained-glass windows, wrought-iron table legs and hand-carved wooden chairs and fixtures are just a few of the many personalized features that owner Manual Torres crafted in his country of origin, Peru.
To go along with the impressive interior design, El Serrano offers a menu that pays tribute to the flavors of Spain, Peru, Colombia and Argentina. The building encompasses three separate restaurants under one ownership, one consisting of Culturas Tapas Restaurant.
Torres explains that Culturas’ tapas are crafted to focus on the appearance of the food, the quality and being different from others.
“The fun thing about tapas is, as soon as you sit down, you get something quick,” explains Torres. “You can create your menu because you pick out a little of this and a little of that. Our menu is flexible. It depends on how much you eat and how hungry you are. You can mix and match with fish, beef and chicken. Putting together a few tapas will equal the same amount as a main course. That is the beauty of tapas.”
