We want to showcase your talents.

Each month, we hope to drop a thought-provoking short story into our magazine. We also hope to cover the Harrisburg region with photographs that showcase the different communities, cultures, nature, and events. While these wouldn’t be paid submissions, we would credit all fiction writers and photographers, and notify you before publication. To submit a short story or photos, please send to rgross@harrisburgmagazine.com.

Short story guidelines:
*Original, unpublished short stories, 500 to 1500 words (occasionally up to 2,000 words).
*Preference given to Pennsylvania residents, or those with a connection to the area.
*No erotica, horror, or gore.
*Extra consideration given to works set in Central Pennsylvania and to seasonal stories that are best suited for a particular month (e.g., ghost stories for October; holiday stories for December).
*Submissions accepted on a rolling basis and may be retained for future consideration.
*We are happy to accept simultaneous submissions, but please let us know if a story you’ve submitted to us has been accepted elsewhere.
*Harrisburg Magazine asks for first serial rights; copyright always remains with the author.
*Unfortunately, at this time, no payment is offered for published stories.
The Editor reserves the right to reject any submissions that do not satisfy the above guidelines.

Nominate a bartender or barista

Bartenders are known as listeners in the community. And everyone’s morning gets off to a better start with coffee served by a friendly, smiling barista. We are interested in stories about your favorite local bartender or barista, and you can nominate your favorite by submitting contact information and a brief paragraph explaining why this bartender or barista is one of the best. Please submit all nominations to Harrisburg Magazine at rgross@harrisburgmagazine.com.
