On Sunday, the Giant Center glimmered with hope thanks to its all-pink makeover. The 6th annual “Pink the Rink” night is a fundraiser for the American Cancer Society. In six years, the event has raised more than $90,000 with all of the proceeds going to the fight against breast cancer
Partnering with Mixed-up Productions, the Hershey Bears and their fans donned their pink shirts, hats, bracelets, beads and more. Hershey Bear Riley Barber and his mother Sandy, a breast cancer survivor, dropped the first puck of the game.
While we wait for this year’s total to roll in, we should mention that Mike Miller of Mixed-Up Productions said he would love to see the total hit $100,000 – a huge feat for the company and for the event.
The pink seems to be a good luck charm for the bears, winning the matchup against the Hartford Wolf Pack 4-3.
