Mollie B Fine Jewelry has been a fixture in Harrisburg for over 20 years. Founder and owner Mollie Bronstein has developed long-term relationships with her clients, to the point of remembering birthdays. “I had a gentleman walk in last week who I’d known long before I went into business for myself. We just have this lovely relationship and his wife’s birthday is at the end of this month and as I saw him I knew what he was here for,” Mollie says with a smile. “He says to me, ‘I wouldn’t dream of going anyplace else.’”
Mollie thinks fine jewelry shopping should be special and should have that human element. Who else is going to explain to you a diamond’s details or help you try on earrings that match your face? It’s an experience Mollie says just isn’t the same as shopping online. “Young people just turn to the internet for everything, but jewelry is hands-on, you want to touch it, feel it, see it before you invest.”
Now in her 80s, Mollie laughs at the thought of retiring. With her son, Randy by her side at the Linglestown shop, she’s been in business for herself for over a quarter century. “I can’t imagine what I would do if I didn’t get up get dressed, put on my face and come to work in the industry,” she says as she sits behind her signature yellow desk in her store office. It’s filled with her bright and cheery colors and bee motifs. It’s quintessential Mollie, and she wants everyone to feel that type of personalization in the jewelry they wear and invest in. “For years I’ve had fathers who would bring their sons in to meet me,” explains Mollie. “You don’t want to walk into any store, you need that one-on-one contact and so many of my customers I’ve know for years would hand their sons my cards for when they would be buying an engagement ring.”
Mollie’s shop isn’t just one of a kind because of her style, she goes to great lengths to find pieces you won’t see anywhere else around town. “I’m so careful with every piece that I buy, just because I like some pieces in a designer’s line doesn’t mean I’ll buy all of them. I have an exclusive with all of the designers I deal with they do not sell to anyone else in Central PA I won’t take anyone on that is featured in other places If you’re looking for something that’s distinctively different from what you’re seeing in other stores, this is the shop, stop in and try something on.”
