Penn State Harrisburg School of Public Affairs presents Community Violence: Varied Risk and Protective Factors
During this seminar, attendees will hear from two perspectives of youth violence. Dr. Maria João Lobo Antunes, Asst. Professor of Criminology and Criminal Justice at Towson University, discusses current research on risk and protective factors associated with exposure to violence in the community. Amber Wagman, Trauma Therapist at Turning Point Counseling & Advocacy Center offers insight on the long-term effects of exposure to violence from her experience as a practitioner. Dr. Eileen Ahlin, Asst. Professor of Criminal Justice at Penn State Harrisburg, will moderate a discussion on the relationship between research and practice and how academics and practitioners can work together to address community violence.
